In a meeting headed by Muhammad Hussein, the Mufti of Grand Mufti of Jerusalem al-Quds, the council condemned the intensification of Zionist violations of the mosque’s sanctity and attacks on the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in al-Quds, Al-Ahed News reported.
These attacks are tantamount to ethnic cleansing of the true residents of Sheikh Jarrah and part of attempts to Judaize the city, it said.
The council warned of the repercussions of the Zionist attacks on the neighborhood, saying it could spark conflicts in the entire region.
It also slammed the occupation regime’s projects in Al-Aqsa Mosque, stressing that Al-Aqsa and the Ibrahimi Mosque in Al-Khalil (Hebron) belong to Muslims and no one else has the right to interfere in their affairs.
The council called on international organizations to stop the Zionist crimes committed against the Palestinian people.
It also urged international pressure on the regime to end harassment of Palestinian prisoners.
